FEMA DISTRIBUTES OVER $90M FOR APRIL/MAY STORMS

  

 

FEMA reports that over $90-million in assistance has been distributed to victims of flooding in April and in May.

According to the latest information released by FEMA, 5,157 applications have been approved for May flooding victims, totaling $34.6-million.

10,150 applications for assistance from the April storms have been approved for a total of $58.8-million.

FEMA representative Rita Egan reminds the public that two deadlines are fast approaching for Texans affected by the storms.

The deadline to apply for federal disaster assistance for the April 17-30 storms is this Friday (7/29).  That deadline is for 16 affected counties including: Austin, Colorado, Fayette, Grimes, Montgomery and Waller.

If damage occurred May 26-June 24, the registration deadline is Aug. 10. That deadline is for

24 affected counties, including: Washington, Austin, Bastrop, Brazos, Burleson, Fayette, Grimes, Lee, , Montgomery and Waller.

Texas residents who filed their homeowner’s insurance claims for disaster-related damage are encouraged to register with FEMA even if they did not receive a final insurance settlement.

Disaster Recovery Centers remain open in:

Austin County at St. Mary's Catholic Church at 10471 Grotto Road in Sealy.

Bastrop County at ROTC Building/Bastrop High School at 1200 Cedar St. in Bastrop.

Burleson County at The Yegua Center at 616 8th St. in Somerville .

Brazos County at the Bryan High School Blue Campus at 3450 Campus Dr. in Bryan

Grimes County at City Hall – Todd Mission at 21718 FM 1774, in Plantersville.

Waller County at Waller County Road and Bridge at 775 Business 290 in Hempstead.

And, Brookshire Civic Center at 4010 Fourth Street, in Brookshire
