FEMA REPRESENTATIVES IN WASHINGTON COUNTY

FEMA Representatives have visited with Washington County Sheriff Otto Hanak and Brenham Police Chief Craig Goodman.

The FEMA specialists and inspectors will be going door to door and will do home visits in order to register them for Federal assistance. These specialists will always have a FEMA ID card as well as having a shirt displaying the FEMA office.

Sheriff Hanak and Chief Goodman would like remind citizens that, most importantly, FEMA will never ask for money or charge for anything. If this happens, report it immediately to the non-emergency Dispatch number which is 979-277-7373.

These FEMA representatives will be in the area for the next 30 days.  If anyone has concerns, contact Dispatch for a complete list of the names and vehicle descriptions of the FEMA personnel.

Residents can register for disaster assistance by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362); or by going online to www.DisasterAssistance.gov.  When registering, the following information is needed:

  • Address with zip code
  • Directions to property
  • Condition of damaged property
  • Insurance information, if available
  • Social Security number
  • Good contact information
  • Valid mailing address.

Once registration is completed, a FEMA registration number will be provided. It will be needed anytime contact is made with FEMA.
