FIFTH DWI GETS HEMPSTEAD MAN A FIVE YEAR SENTENCE
A Hempstead man has been sentenced to prison time after pleading guilty to a felony charge of Driving While Intoxicated.
51-year old Ronald Benjamin Rodriguez of Hempstead was sentenced to five years in prison after he pleaded guilty to his fifth conviction for DWI.
According to authorities, Rodriguez’ blood-alcohol content was .287—over three times above the legal limit. The court was also informed that while on bond for the latest charge in Washington County, Rodriguez was arrested on a DWI charge in Waller County.
Rodriguez could have been sentenced up to 10 years behind bars.
Also in 21st District Court, 30-year old Samuel Louis Ragston, Jr. of Brenham was placed on two years’ probation and 80 hours of community service for Delivery of a Controlled Substance.
Ragston told the court that since his arrest in 2013 he had turned his life around.
The District Attorney’s office had requested two years in State Jail.
