FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDS TO SMOKE AT BLINN DORM

  

The Brenham Fire Department responded to the report of a structure fire on the Blinn College Campus this (Tuesday) morning.  Upon arrival, they found light smoke coming from a mechanical room attached to Solons dormitory.  The smoke from a malfunctioning piece of equipment had drifted into the dorms forcing an evacuation of the residents.  Blinn College police ensured that all the residents were out while Brenham Fire Department personnel ventilated the building.  After the dormitory was clear of smoke, residents were allowed to re-enter and the mechanical room was turned over to the Blinn Maintenance Department.  The Fire Department was delayed briefly because they were initially dispatched to 906 College Avenue, which is the address for Lockett Hall.  Solons Hall is 906 Blinn Blvd. one block away.
