FIRE PREPAREDNESS DAY IN BASTROP

  

Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative is hosting a free wildfire preparedness field day for members, area residents and nonprofit organizations today (Saturday) in Bastrop.

There will be activities for kids, including a visit from Smokey Bear, the U.S. Forest Service’s mascot. The event will demonstrate ways to make your home or office safer from wildfire. Michal Hubbard, Bluebonnet’s coordinator for community education, will offer information about wildfire mitigation and creating defensible space around homes or offices. Attendees can also enter a drawing to win an assortment of landscaping tools.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the co-op’s headquarters property, located at 155 Electric Ave., off Texas Highway 21 East in Bastrop.  For more information about Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative, go to bluebonnet.coop.
