FIRE REPORTED AT CAMPUS VIEW APARTMENTS IN COLLEGE STATION IS OUT

  

A fire at the Campus View Apartment off of Harvey Road in College Station, which broke out around 5am this morning, is out

.The apartment residence had been asked to evacuated to Rudy’s BBQ restaurant across the street.

Firefighters from College Station and Bryan originally had the fire under control, but some of the flames reignited.

Harvey Road was shut down between Stallings Road near ProTec Auto repair shop and George Bush Dr. George Bush Drive is now reported to be open.

Red Cross volunteers from Brazos County have responded to the scene of an apartment fire that raged through the Campus View Apartments in College Station early this morning, displacing mostly Texas A&M and Blinn College Students from 20 units at the complex.

An Assistance Center for the residents has been set up at nearby Connecting Point Church. Red Cross disaster volunteers are working alongside volunteers from Community Emergency Response Teams (CART), Texas A&M and Blinn College to meet the needs of the impacted residents.

“We are collaborating with our partner agencies in the community to provide comfort and hope to these residents, most of whom were just getting ready to start their next semester in college,” said Curtis Eckman, a Disaster Program Manager for the American Red Cross. “We are providing shelter, food, clothing, hygiene items and other immediate needs to all of the impacted residents so they can begin to move forward.”
