FIREFIGHTERS BATTLING HAYFIELD FIRE NEAR CARMINE
Authorities are at the scene of a hayfield fire near the Washington/Fayette County line.
Firefighters at the scene say heavy winds and smoke are making it difficult to battle the blaze off Highway 290 at Upchurch Rd. near Carmine.
Authorities were called out to the fire just before 3:00 p.m.
The Brenham Fire Department is at the scene with mutual aid from several fire departments.
Firefighters estimate the blaze had covered about five acres.
