FIREWORKS ON THE FOURTH COMING AGAIN TO WASHINGTON ON THE BRAZOS

The highlight of the summer is for most people, the Fourth of July and this year is no exception at the Washington On the Brazos State Historic Park.

The celebration, with the sponsorship of HEB began 15 years ago. The show went on sometimes in the rain and uncertain weather.  Three years ago the drought got so severe they had to improvise with a laser light show with a patriotic theme.

Ginger Moreland of the park says the rain has been enough this year and expects no problems celebrating the nation’s birth at the ‘place where Texas had its birth.”

She says they will have the attractions everyone has become accustomed to since 1999, period games from the Republic of Texas era, frozen treats from Blue Bell Creameries and music in the amphitheater.  Then she says, everyone needs to move out of the amphitheater and go towards the Barrington Living History Farm, and the visitors center for a really good view of the spectacular fireworks display just as soon as it is dark enough.

Moreland says a newcomer will be performing the music at the amphitheater.  Josh Ward is an up and coming musician who will certainly delight everyone coming out.

The fireworks will be accompanied with patriotic music, choreographed to the show.
