FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH SCHOOL HONORS LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT

The First Baptist Church School honored local law enforcement during Chapel Friday morning, in which the officers were presented with drawings and prayer cards.

During the group picture taken, the children were encouraged to “blow a kiss” to the officers.

  1. This is awesome. Children learning respect.
Too bad our local Chamber of Commerce declares National Night Out as Blue Bell night. Why can’t they declare it blue night for these officers as well. Evidentially their ice cream is more important than local safety.
Sad. They are driven by money I guess.

    1. I agree wholeheartedly! Our little ones should be taught to respect the men and women in law enforcement! It is a shame that so many in our community have put a company selling ice cream above those charged with the task of keeping us safe! I wish those same people would take off the blinders where Blue Bell is concerned. They are out to make money just like any other business, hence the low down act of laying off long term 30+ year employees and keeping the lower paid, newer people! My family WILL NOT be calling this Blue Bell night! The chamber does not speak for everyone.

    2. What article states that the local Chamber of Commerce declared NNO as Blue Bell Night? The article I read stated that the local police department made this decision.

Taken from National Night Out article dated 9/18/18 on KWHI:

Cpl. Chris Jackson, the Brenham Police Department’s community relations officer says, “National Night Out has always been a way for officers to get out in the neighborhoods and meet our residents. It was started years ago to build partnerships between citizens and police to combat and prevent crime. This past year has been a tough one for those of us in law enforcement, and we need our community’s support more than ever.”

“And, along those same lines, Blue Bell has suffered major setbacks which affected our residents and neighbors, but this community continued to believe and support the company. With Blue Bell again producing the best ice cream in the country, we thought this was a good time to celebrate both them, and law enforcement.”
