FIRST DAY OF EARLY VOTING SEES RECORD TURN OUT

The first day of early voting in Washington County saw 1,207 people vote in person. Vote voting feature

Washington County Clerk, Beth Rothermel, says she believes this is a new record for a single day of early voting in Washington County. People were lined up outside the Courthouse Annex, ready to cast their vote at 8 a.m. Monday morning. Rothermel says they stayed busy throughout the day, rarely having a time where there was not someone signing in to vote.

Rothermel says election officials are handling it well, but it does take a few minutes to look up a voter, and go through the steps that they are required to by the state to qualify the voter.

There is reserved parking in front of the Courthouse Annex, where early voting is being held. Early voting is this week through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., Sunday from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., and next week- Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
