FLASH FLOOD WATCH ISSUED FOR WASHINGTON COUNTY

  

A flash flood watch has been issued for Washington County and surrounding areas.

The National Weather Service issued the watch for portions of southeast Texas including the following counties: Austin, Brazoria, Brazos, Burleson, Chambers, Colorado, Fort Bend, Galveston, Grimes, Harris, Liberty, Madison, Matagorda, Montgomery, San Jacinto, Walker, Waller, Washington, and Wharton.

Rainfall amounts are expected to average between 1 and 3 inches across the watch area, with localized areas expected to receive between 3 and 5 inches.

The flash flood watch remains in effect until this (Monday) afternoon.

In addition, the National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for portions of the following counties: Colorado, Wharton, Austin, Washington, Fort Bend, Waller, and Harris. The severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 5:45 a.m.
