FLYING FORTRESS COMING TO BRENHAM AIRPORT

The Brenham airport is ready to host an aircraft that saved the world some 70 plus years ago.

It has been nearly 70 years since the last B-17 lifted into the air to join the largest air armada  ever to fill the skies during World War II But on Friday, May 2nd, through Sunday May  4th,  the giant Wright Cyclone Engines of Texas Raiders, a fully restored B-17 Flying Fortress will be roaring over Brenham,

Of the nearly 13,0000 B-17S built across the United States , only nine are currently flying—including the Texas Raiders, which is part of the Commemorative Air Force.  One of the last flying examples of the famous aircraft arrived on Friday at the Municipal Airport, offering the public a rare opportunity to see and touch one of history’s most storied bombers.

Texas Raiders will offer tours and the unique opportunity to ride in the historic aircraft.  A ‘nominal entry fee’ can get you a walking tour of the craft, that includes commentary from crew members.  Attendees who want the ultimate Flying Fortress experience can make a reservation now for a limited number of 30 minute flights on the classic aircraft.

The public is invited out ot the Southern Flyer at the Brenham Airport to tour the aircraft and have a talk with the crew.   Call 1 855 359 2217 or email a reservation request to info@B17TexasRaiders.org.
