FORMER CUB WILSON QUALIFIES FOR NCAA MEET

Former Brenham Cubs track star Malik Wilson, a freshman sprinter at Baylor, is headed for the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Wilson is part of the Bear’s 4x100-meter relay team that placed fifth in its heat at the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds at Mike A. Myers Stadium at the University of Texas this weekend with a time of 39.82.

The time was 11th overall, qualifying them for the national meet June 10-13 in Eugene, Ore.

Wilson was part of the Cubs’ bronze-medal 4x100 relay team at the 2014 State UIL Meet.  He also placed fifth in the 100 meters at State.

Wilson holds the Brenham High School record in the 100 meters (:10.33) and 200 meters (:20.05).

He was also on the 2013 Cubs’ State-Finalist football team as a defensive back and wide receiver.

Malik is the son of Chris and Sondra Wilson of Brenham.
