FORMER KWHI ANNOUNCER – BUSINESSMAN JOHN HERNDON DIES

  

Former KWHI announcer and Brenham businessman John Herndon died Sunday in a College Station hospital at the age of 63.  He was an announcer at KWHI in the 1970’s and also owned and operated Thru the Lens, a camera and photography shop in Brenham.

John was a self-taught software programmer and worked in the IT department at Blue Bell Creameries for 14 years.  He sang with and served as president of the Brenham Choral Society and also was a founding board member of Unity Theatre.

John Herndon is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary Ann Alsobrook Herndon, of Brenham.  Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Wednesday, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Brenham.  A visitation will be held at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. tonight.
