FORMER LITTLE LEAGUE OFFICIALS INDICTED IN AUSTIN CO.

The former Administrator for District-13 Little League has been indicted in Austin County.

Ginger Barrett is one of two former Little League officials that have been indicted on theft of property charges.

Barrett and Cindy Lara were each indicted following a lengthy investigation into missing Little League property launched by the Bellville Police Department.

Barrett faces two counts of theft of property between $2,500-and-$30,000, enhanced to a third-degree felony; and one count of theft of property between $20,000-and-$100,000, enhanced to a second-degree felony.

Lara has been indicted on two counts of theft of property between $1,500-and-$20,000, enhanced to a third-degree felony.

The charges against each have been enhanced because the alleged thefts were against a non-profit organization.

Bellville police said they launched an investigation into missing property at the request of current Bellville Little League board members, and they believe Barrett and Lara are the only officials involved in, what they call “an isolated incident.”

Barrett was serving as administrator of District 13, which includes leagues in Washington, Austin, Grimes, Fayette, Lee, Burleson and Colorado counties.
