FORMER WASHINGTON COUNTY EXTENSION SERVICE AGENT DIES

  

A former Washington County Extension Service agent has died.

Spencer Tanksley died Friday at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Round Rock. He was 70-years-old.

Tanksley served as Washington County’s Extension Service agent for 10 years beginning in 1991. He retired in 2001 and moved to Bertram where he resided until his death.

Tanksley was honored with many awards during his lifetime including the Texas Agricultural Extension Service Superior Service Award, the Texas Agricultural Specialist's Association Distinguished Achievement Award, the Texas Agricultural Extension Agents Association Distinguished Service Award, and the Burnet Chamber of Commerce 2012 Rancher of the Year.
