Former Weimar and Burton High School volleyball coach Megon LeSturgeon has been charged in Weimar with having an improper relationship with a student.

The 33-year old LeSturgeon was arrested Saturday on a charge of having an improper relationship with a female student, which is a second-degree felony.

Weimar authorities said LeSturgeon is accused of having the improper relationship while she was at Weimar High School, where she served as head volleyball coach, assistant girls basketball coach and golf coach for four years before resigning in May.

LeSturgeon was head volleyball coach at Burton High School, when she led the Lady Panthers to their first-ever appearance at the State Tournament in 2011.  She joined the Weimar district after that season, and last year led the Lady Cats to the State Tournament for the first time in school history.

LeSturgeon is currently free on $35,000 bond.

  1. This is crazy. Keep your personal life and your career seperate. These kids trust these coaches. They spend a lot of time with them. They need to be tossed out on their behinds and prosecuted to the fullest!

  2. We leave our children in the hands of teachers and coaches 9 months of the year. These kind of stories are so ver discouraging.
