FOSTER FAMILIES NEEDED

The call is going out for foster families in Washington County.

Hope Rising Ministries is hosting a program Saturday, “Is Foster Parenting for Me?”

The program will be held at Lydia’s House, 311 S. Baylor St. Saturday from 1:30-3 p.m.

Hope Rising assists victims of sex trafficking.  They have expanded their services to also help girls under 18 who have been trafficking victims as well.

The founder of Hope Rising, Sherri Clement, said the need for foster parents is high, with some victims sleeping in CPS offices because of the lack of foster parents.

Clement says filling the need for foster parents is even more difficult for Hope Rising because of what the victims have been through.

Recent estimates are that as many as 75,000 children in Texas alone are victims of sex trafficking

More information on Saturday’s program and Hope Mission is available on its website: hoperisingministries.org.

An art show and benefit for Hope Rising will be held Dec. 16 from 6-8:30 p.m. at Ant Street Inn.

Tickets to the “Inspiring Hope” art show are available at the same website. Tickets are $60 per person, and sponsorships are still available.
