FOUR AREA BANKS DONATE SCOREBOARD FOR KRUSE CENTER

Four area banks have teamed up to fund a new scoreboard for Blinn College’s Kruse Center.

Bank of Brenham, First National Bank of Bellville, Fayetteville Bank and Industry State Bank combined to donate $35,000 to the Blinn College Foundation for the scoreboard. All four banks are part of Industry Bank Shares holding company.

Jim Kruse, the President of the Bank of Brenham, says that the bank is a big supporter of each community that they do business in, so they try to support the community in any way possible. He continued to say that Blinn College is an asset to the area, and a lot of students of the school come from where the four banks that donated are located.

The Kruse Center is currently under construction and expected to be operational by fall of 2017.  The 36,000-square foot center will include space for general fitness, dance and yoga, kinesiology classes, student organization meetings, weightlifting and fitness space, and multi-purpose rooms for community events and meetings. The Center will feature an event arena to host Buccaneer volleyball and basketball games as well as high school playoff games.

Susan Myers, the Executive Director of the Blinn Foundation, says the Foundation is grateful that the area banks came together to donate a scoreboard for the Kruse Center. The Kruse Center facility was made possible through a gift from the Kruse family: siblings Mildred Kruse Bridges, Evelyn Ann Kruse, the late Ed. Kruse and his wife Evelyn, and Howard Kruse and his wife Verlin established the gift in memory of their parents, E.F. and Bertha Kruse.

The Blinn Foundation supports programs and activities that enhance the quality of education for Blinn College students and expand the educational opportunities for the entire community. While raising funds is an important function, the Foundation also seeks to heighten community awareness of the mission and accomplishments of the College and to promote excellence in education.

Since its inception in 2000, the Foundation has raised funds to purchase classroom equipment and supplies, and help launch major construction projects across Blinn’s campuses, including the A.W. Hodde, Jr. Technical Education Center, the J. Hal and Allyne Machat Music Facility, the W.J. “Bill” Rankin Agricultural Complex and the Bert and Mae Dean Wheeler Residence Hall.

In addition, thanks to the support of generous donors, Blinn offers more than 230 endowed scholarships valued at more than $16 million.
