Colleen Dougan (Brenham) all went through a rigorous application process that included online and telephone interviews to get a chance to work at Walt Disney World.

“Getting a start with Disney in any avenue is a really good experience entering the entertainment field,” said Kevin Patrick, technical theatre arts director. “The great thing about working for Disney is that once you are in the door, you can apply to work in a variety of fields.”

Arias and Dougan will be starting at Disney in the summer and continue through the fall, while Hardin and Matlock will begin in the fall.

“I’ve always wanted to work for Disney so I was really excited to get this opportunity,” Hardin said. Hardin helped nudge Matlock and Dougan into applying for jobs at Disney.

Matlock will work in merchandise and Hardin will work in attractions. Dougan will be involved in costuming after she gained experience producing costumes for Blinn theatre productions. Arias will work in food and beverage but hopes to one day work for Disney Cruise Lines.

While working at Walt Disney World, students can take classes and seminars to learn more about Disney and career opportunities with the company.

Students that want to apply through the Disney Parks and Resorts Student programs must be taking classes full- or part-time and meet the requirements set by the institution. The education program is designed to give participants a comprehensive, experimental learning opportunity that will enhance their academic and professional careers.
