FOUR BUC WOMEN’S HOOPSTERS SIGN WITH 4-YEAR SCHOOLS

Jade Rochelle, Rayanna Carter, Kyler Wyatt, and Ke’Asia Williams to play at the Division I level

Four Blinn College women’s basketball players have signed with four-year programs to continue their academic and athletic careers.

Jade Rochelle signed with the University of Texas at El Paso, Rayanna Carter signed with the University of Nebraska at Omaha, Kyler Wyatt signed with Alcorn State, and Ke’Asia Williams signed with Prairie View A&M University.

“I am so proud of these girls and they all deserved to sign with Division I schools,” said Jeff Jenkins, Blinn head coach. “This may have been the most enjoyable sophomore class I have ever coached. They all worked so hard, have great character, and are going to be greatly missed.”

Rochelle, a sophomore forward, earned all-conference honors after leading the Buccaneers in scoring with 11 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. Throughout Rochelle's two seasons at Blinn, she recorded 577 rebounds, fifth-highest in Blinn history, and totaled 630 points.

“I am really excited to play at the next level, but it is a bittersweet moment because I really enjoyed my time at Blinn,” Rochelle said. “I met so many lifetime friends here, so it is hard to say goodbye but I am excited for the future.”

Carter, a sophomore guard, heads to the University of Nebraska at Omaha after she ranked second on the team in scoring with 9.8 points per game and averaged three assists per game. Sophomore guard Kyler Wyatt moves on to Alcorn State after averaging 6.9 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.

Sophomore forward Ke’Asia Williams will continue her playing career at Prairie View A&M University after scoring 7.5 points and grabbing 7.5 rebounds per game.

Blinn finished the season with a 15-16 overall record and an 8-12 mark in Region XIV play. The Buccaneers lost to Kilgore College 71-63 in the NJCAA Region XIV Tournament quarterfinals.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 38 NJCAA national championships since 1987. For more information, visit www.buccaneersports.com.
