FIVE REPUBLICANS – ONE DEMOCRAT FILE FOR SCHUBERT’S STATE REP SEAT

  

Six people have announced plans to run for the District 13 State Representative seat currently held by Leighton Schubert.

Friday, Grimes County Judge Ben Leman announced his resignation to run for the post.  Meanwhile, Marc S. Young of Sealy, a retired oil and gas engineer, filed for the seat.  Also filing on Friday was David K. Stall of Fayetteville, Stall has been active in the Fayette County Republican Party, serving as County Chairman in the past.  Another candidate for the Republican nomination is Daniel McCarthy of Brenham.  McCarthy launched an attempt to get on the ballot in 2014, but abandoned the plan when he did not gather the 500 signatures needed en lieu of the filing fee.  Also filing for the position is Bellville businesswoman Jill Wolfskill.

All five will be running in the Republican Primary.

Cecil Webster will be running in the Democrat Primary.

Monday was the deadline for candidates in both parties to file for the March Primaries.
