Four people were indicted by a Milam County grand jury Friday, charged with capital murder in the death of Emily Hacker.

30-year-old Edward Brannon Barry, of Caldwell; 29-year-old Candice Nicole Jones, of Killeen; 24-year-old Ashley Yvonne Wesson-Zawadzke, of Somerville; and 37-year-old John Wayne Stewart, of Somerville were initially charged with aggravated assault in connection with Hacker’s disappearance on January 20th.

Those charges were upgraded to capital murder when police found Hacker’s body eight days later in a shallow grave near Lyons.

A preliminary autopsy report showed Hacker died of blunt force trauma. Investigators believe she was killed at a house in Rockdale and her body was moved to the Burleson County property.

A fifth person, Kevin Comier, of Bryan, was arrested February 9th and charged with tampering with evidence. Authorities say they believe he helped move Hacker’s body to the property in Burleson County.

A funeral service for Hacker will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

  1. I knew Candice Jones back when she was 20 years old living in Copperas Cove Texas. She was a very sweet person. It is sad to see what drugs do to people.
