FOURTH-QUARTER RALLY LEADS McLENNAN OVER BUCS, 72-65

Blinn was outscored 32-12 in the final quarter

WACO, Texas – After three quarters, Blinn College women’s basketball was in a great position to win a road game as the Buccaneers led by 13 points but McLennan Community College stormed back to beat Blinn 72-65 Monday night.

“I have to give McLennan credit because they made plays offensively in the fourth,” said Jeff Jenkins, Blinn head coach.

With the loss, Blinn falls to 5-5 on the season while its Region XIV record stays at 1-2.

Ke’Asia Williams led Blinn in scoring with 22 points while Karissa Black also reached double figures with 11. Jasmine Redmond chipped in eight points and Jade Rochelle finished with seven in the loss.

McLennan and Blinn appeared fairly equal in the opening quarter as McLennan edged out a 13-11 lead after the first. The Buccaneers battled back in the second quarter to take a 29-27 lead at halftime.

The third quarter was the most successful for the Buccaneers as Blinn outscored McLennan by 11 to claim a 53-40 lead heading into the fourth quarter. The final quarter is where Blinn lost control of the game and the lead as McLennan outscored the Buccaneers 32-12 to storm back for the victory.

Blinn will look to bounce back on Wednesday, Dec. 7 with a home game against Panola College at 5:30 p.m. Panola hold a 2-1 record in Region XIV play.
