Fowler delivers game-winning double for Buccaneers over TCS Post Grad, 8-7

Blinn let 7-2 lead slip away eighth and ninth innings

BRENHAM, Texas – Blinn College baseball let it come down to extra inning dramatics but the Buccaneers were able to get a game-winning double from Tyler Fowler in the 12th inning to beat TCS Post Grad Academy 8-7 Wednesday evening at Leroy Dreyer Field.
With the win, Blinn improves to 4-5 overall.

Fowler was 0-for-4 prior to his game-winning double that came at the right time for the Buccaneers. Colton Parrish added a single and a double to drive in a run. Anthony Jones added a pair of singles while driving in a run in the win.

Cody Van Cleave came on late and pitched the final 3 2-3 innings to earn the win on the mound. Johnny Rizer came on for middle relief and pitched three scoreless innings with three strikeouts. Blinn worked out six different pitchers on the mound.
TCS jumped out with an early run in the opening inning but Blinn came right back in the bottom half. Trent Murphy started the inning with a walk and then scored when Marshall Skinner got caught in a run down between first and second to tie the game at 1-1.

The Buccaneers took advantage of TCS errors in the second inning as Angel De La Fuente reached on an error and later scored after another error to give Blinn a 2-1 lead.
Blinn kept it rolling in the third inning when Skinner reached on an error and scored after Colton Parrish ripped a double to right for a 3-1 lead. De La Fuente followed with an RBI double of his own to left to boost the lead to 4-1. TCS scored a run in the fourth to get within 4-2.
Blinn countered in the bottom of the fourth when Connor Whitaker started the inning with a double and then scored on an error for a 5-2 lead. Looking to raise its lead in the sixth, Blinn got a walk from Murphy with one out and he later scored on a sacrifice fly by Rizer to center for a 6-2 lead. Skinner ripped an RBI single up the middle following the sacrifice fly to give the Buccaneers a 7-2 lead.
TCS charged back with three runs in the eighth and two more in the ninth to force extra inning. Neither team scored in the 10th or 11th but Blinn went to work in the 12th inning. Hunter Trinidad started the inning with a double and then came in to score when Fowler dropped a double into shallow center field for an 8-7 victory.
Blinn will next hit the road to face Weatherford College on Friday, Feb. 17 for a game at 6 p.m.
