FUNERAL SERVICE FOR ED KRUSE, SATURDAY AFTERNOON

  

Ed_Kruse smallFuneral services are set for tomorrow for longtime Brenham businessman and philanthropist, Ed Kruse.

Kruse, the former president of Blue Bell Creamery, died Tuesday evening in College Station. He was 87.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow (Saturday) in the Brenham High School auditorium

At the age of 23, Ed Kruse was made manager of Blue Bell Creameries. In 1967 he became president of Blue Bell, and became Chairman of the Board in 1986.

In 1987 he was named Washington County Man of the Year, and was inducted into the Texas Business Hall of Fame in 1993.

Kruse was as well-known for the contributions he and his brother Howard made to the City of Brenham, Brenham High School, Blinn College and Texas A&M, as for the ice cream that has become one of the leaders in its industry.

A private family burial will take place later in the day.
