GOVERNOR-ELECT GREG ABBOTT CAMPAIGNS WITH LOIS KOLKHORST

Governor- Elect Greg Abbott spent Monday afternoon in Senate District 18 to campaign for Lois Kolkhorst, urging voters to support her at the get-out-the-vote event in Fort Bend County.

In one of Abbott’s first public appearances since his election as Governor, he joined Kolkhorst to address a packed restaurant of supporters.

"Lois is a job creator, a proven conservative and a principled and effective public servant...she has stood shoulder to shoulder with our fellow conservatives – and my office – in the fight against federal government overreach. The voters of the 18th district couldn't find a better advocate to preserve our Texas values and build an even better future for our state," Abbott said.

The Governor-elect detailed several reasons for his strong support of Kolkhorst, including her work with his office to fight to implementation of Obamacare in Texas. He also touted her as a proven leader in the fight for border security and thanked her for backing his plan to place 500 specially-trained state troopers and rangers along the border.

Addressing the Fort Bend County crowd of over 100 supporters, Kolkhorst said she humbled by Abbott’s in-district appearance.

“There's a reason we have Greg Abbott joining our campaign. It's the same reason we have so much support across twenty-one counties. Greg Abbot and I share the same values and record of proven results that build a better Texas. My goal is to take that same spirit to the Texas Senate and I'm honored to have his support,” Kolkhorst said. "I'm ready to serve the twenty-one counties in this district on day one."

Along with Abbott, the state's new incoming Comptroller Glenn Hegar as well as outgoing Governor Rick Perry have publicly endorsed Kolkhorst.
