GOVERNOR PERRY’S LAWYERS REQUEST GRAND JURY TRANSCRIPTS

  

The attorneys for indicted Texas Governor Rick Perry filed a request for grand jury transcripts, saying they are needed for a judge to review their previous request for dismissal of his indictment. 

They are accusing prosecutor Michael McCrum of being “too busy” to reply with the request for records. McCrum indicated that he hadn’t reviewed the request and did not comment Friday. 

Governor Perry was indicted on two felony counts of abuse of power, stemming from his threat to veto state funding for the state’s public corruption unit, which occurred when the Democratic district attorney in charge of that unit refused to resign after she was convicted of drunk driving.
