GRIMES CO. COMMISSIONER GARY HUSFELD DIES SUDDENLY
A Grimes County commissioner has died, suddenly.
Precinct Four Commissioner Gary Husfeld reportedly died of a sudden heart attack, Tuesday.
Grimes County Sheriff Don Sowell said Husfeld had been attending a class with County Judge Joe Fauth on Tuesday when he began to feel ill and was taken to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in College Station. Husfeld died Tuesday evening.
Husfeld was appointed to the seat in 2015 after the death of former commissioner Pam Finke.
Husfeld was running for re-election, unopposed.
He was life-long Navasota resident, who graduated from Navasota High School.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10:30 at Trinity Lutheran Church, with burial in the Husfeld Family Cemetery.
