GRIMES CO. DEPUTY INVOLVED IN FIERY CRASH

A Grimes County Sheriff’s deputy suffered non-life threatening injuries in a fiery crash Friday night, southeast of Navasota.

KBTX-TV 3 reports the deputy, whose name has not been released was responding to a call, when he lost control of his patrol unit on FM 362 near Whitehall.

The cruiser left the highway and struck several trees before it reportedly caught fire.

The deputy was able to escape the vehicle before the fire spread.

No other vehicles were involved and no one else was injured.

The deputy was taken by ambulance to a Bryan hospital.
