GRIMES COUNTY GO TEXAN RAISES OVER $35,000

  

This past weekend’s Grimes County Go Texan events raised over $35,000 for scholarships.

77 cook-off teams competed at the Grimes County Fairgrounds in Navasota Saturday.  Taking first place in County Barbecue, and representing Grimes County at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Cook-off in 2019, is High Maintenance #1.  The Dollar Belles placed second, and Grease Monkeys third.

Hell of a bunch won the Open Barbecue competition.  GCC#2 had the first place ribs, and Dead Broke Cookers took first place in chicken.  The Bobby Harris Invitational championship went to 5 Pak Cookers.  Pineywood Rooters won first place chili.  Super Chango won the bloody mary competition, and Hide Away Ranch #1 was the high point team overall champion.

Also Saturday at the Grimes County Go Texan competition, Justin Perry and Judd Perry took first place in horseshoes.  The washer toss was won by Kirt Wells and Justin Willis.  Clay Oncken and Sloan King took first in Jr. Team Sorting, while the Sr. Team Sorting was won by Sean King and Edgar Oncken, who also placed third in Houston this year.  Brac Jones and Ronnie Floyd were the domino tournament champions.  Diane LeFlore won the quilt contest.  And the Swangerettes took best of show among the cook-off teams.

Jada Pruett was named Lil Miss Grimes County Go Texan, and Jaxon Male was Lil Mr. Go Texan.
