GURKA SIGNS WITH YANKEES

Former Brenham Cubs baseball standout Jason Gurka has signed a minor league contract with the New York Yankees organization.

The 28-year old Chappell Hill-native was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 2008 draft.  Prior to the 2015 season he signed with the Colorado Rockies organization.

The left-handed reliever appeared in 15 Big-League games the past two seasons with the Rockies.

In 194 minor league appearances, Gurka has a career 18-15 record with a 3.07 ERA and 379 strikeouts in 344 innings.

  1. I love to watch baseball, and also play with my kid, I remember He replaced Carlos Gonzalez in right field in the bottom of the sixteenth inning against the Los Angeles Dodgers on September 16, 2015. Congrats for signing minor league contract with the New York Yankees organization.
