HEAD FOR THE HILLS BIKE RIDE HAPPENING IN CHAPPELL HILL

The 13th Annual Head for the Hills Bike Ride will take place today (Saturday) in Chappell Hill.

The ride, which is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Washington County, draws over 1,000 bicyclists to the area.

The bike ride raises approximately $30,000 that goes to charitable and civic organizations in Washington County.

Riders have a choice of three different courses- a 26 mile, 43 mile, or 63 mile course which takes them on roads north of Chappell Hill.

The rides begin in Chappell Hill at 8:00 a.m. today. Organizers for the event say depending on the course and the speed of the rider, most people will finish by 2:30 in the afternoon.

A hamburger lunch for the riders will be offered at the Chappell Hill Fire Department.  Proceeds from the lunch benefit the Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department.
