The Washington County Chamber is pleased to announce that Joel Allison, CEO of Baylor Scott & White Health, will be the featured speaker at the 2015 Annual Banquet.  The event will be held on Tuesday, January 27, at Fireman’s Training Center in Brenham.  The theme of the banquet is “Celebrating Partners in Progress.”

“We are very happy to have Joel Allison as our banquet speaker.  He is a well-respected leader statewide who will talk to us about growth and challenges and the future of the healthcare industry,” said Liz Hopkins, outgoing Chairman of the Chamber’s Board of Directors.

Joel Allison is Chief Executive Officer of Baylor Scott & White Health, a fully integrated healthcare system providing services to a network of acute care hospitals and related healthcare entities that provide patient care, medical education, research and community service. His career includes more than four decades in health care management.

He joined Baylor Health Care System in 1993 and served as Baylor’s senior executive vice president and chief operating officer before being promoted to president and CEO in 2000. In October 2013, he was named CEO of Baylor Scott & White Health.

He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Nationally, he serves on the Healthcare Leadership Council and the United Surgical Partners, International board. He has been appointed by Governor Rick Perry to serve on the Texas Institute of Health Care Quality and Efficiency Board and is involved in many other state and local organizations, including the Texas Business Leadership Council, Texas Association of Voluntary Hospitals, Texas Care Alliance, Baylor University Board of Regents, Dallas Citizens Council and the Denison Forum on Truth and Culture. He is also a past chairman of the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas Board, the Dallas Regional Chamber Board and the Dallas Citizens Council Board.

Allison has received numerous recognitions during his career for his outstanding leadership and commitment to the healthcare field.

He received a bachelor’s degree in journalism and religion from Baylor University in 1970, a master’s degree in health care administration from Trinity University in 1973 and is a graduate of the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program.

Today, through his leadership role with BSWH, Allison continues to fulfill his life-long mission to help lead an organization that combines ministry and health care in its mission statement and day-to-day operations.  He and his wife of 45 years, Diane, have a daughter, two sons and six grandchildren.

Serving as Master of Ceremonies at the banquet will be Randy Weidemann from Van Dyke Rankin Insurance, and Jason Jennings of Baylor Scott & White Healthcare-College Station will introduce the keynote speaker.  Newly elected Senator Lois Kolkhorst will also be welcomed to the stage for a special presentation.

Washington County Chamber board directors who ended their three-year term of service in December will be recognized:  Ricky Boeker-City of Brenham Fire Chief; Coy Fontenot-Kruse Village; Michael Haywood-Mission Brenham; Judi Houston-Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union; and Renee Mueller-County Attorney. Liz Hopkins will serve one more year as Immediate Past Chairman.

Brenham Economic Development Foundation board members who ended nine years of service in December will also be recognized: Jon Hill-Appel Ford/Quick Lane/Hyundai of Brenham; and Barbara Maurer-Chase (retired).

Headline sponsors of the banquet include BBVA Compass, Blue Bell Creameries, Bluebonnet Electric, Brenham Chrysler Jeep Dodge, Brenham Clinic, Brenham National Bank, Germania Insurance, Scott & White Healthcare-Brenham, and Van Dyke Rankin Insurance Co.

“We are very grateful to these sponsors,” said Page Michel, Chamber president, “because they enable us to host an excellent event for members and guests, plus they join in applauding the efforts of the volunteers and citizens who will be recognized.”

Another highlight of the evening will be the announcement of the Man and Woman of the Year-Lifetime Achievement Award winners.  Last year’s recipients were Lanella Gray and Bill Rankin, who will return to do the surprise introductions of the 2014 winners.  The Blue Blazer of the Year Award will also be announced.

Tickets for the banquet are now on sale at the Washington County Chamber, located at 314 S. Austin Street in Brenham. Individual tickets are $30 per person, on sale until January 22.
