HEARING SET ON KEN PAXTON’S BID FOR NEW JUDGE

The judge presiding over Ken Paxton’ criminal trial has ordered him to appear in court next week after the attorney general’s repeated attempts to remove him from the case.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton

The order from state District Judge George Gallagher was issued Friday, calling for Paxton to appear at a hearing at 9:30 Thursday.

Paxton’s lawyers raised objections earlier this week saying Gallagher should be removed because his appointment to the judicial region that includes Paxton’s case expired at the end of 2016.

Lawyers say Paxton should get a new judge and all rulings Gallagher made in 2017 should be voided.

Paxton was indicted in 2015 on felony securities fraud charges over allegations he duped investors in a tech startup.

  1. Living proof that with enough money for lawyers, justice can and will be perverted. Ken Paxton does not have the millions for this legal team, who is paying this bill? Is it you? This trial and Ken Paxton are directly responsible for a state ballot issue to avoid a trial in Austin. Moved it to his native Texas home town, didn’t like the judge he drew there, off for a change of venue to Houston, and now wants to change the judge. Maybe we should be asking our representatives, just who is paying this legal bill?
