HEARNE POLICE OFFICER FACES FURTHER LEGAL TROUBLES

  

Former Hearne police officer Stephen Stern, who was fired days after he shot and killed a 93-year old woman in a domestic dispute, is now facing a lawsuit charging harassment.

Saad Qureshi of Houston said he was going back from a business trip in Waco when he was stopped by Stern.

Qureshi said the situation escalated when Stern accused him of lying about getting a speeding ticket in Milam County.  Stern said Qureshi received the ticket just recently but records from the Texas Department of Public Safety show the ticket was issued almost two years ago. 

Qureshi attorney says the traffic stop in Hearne took nearly 45 minutes and he was searched twice.

Stern was fired in May after an incident in which he shot and killed 93-year old Pearlie Golden.  Stern answered the call when her nephew reported that she had gotten a firearm and was threatening to use it after he had taken her car keys.

  1. What interesting timing for another “victim” to decide he was harassed. Sounds like a classic case of someone smelling an opportunity for a settlement and filing a lawsuit just to make a quick score at the bank. Where was Saad Qureshi before the death of the 93 year old, why had a suit not been filed prior to this. I don’t buy this case for a second and I suspect if it were to ever make it to a jury, neither would they.
