HEMPSTEAD HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT COMMENDED

Pedro Garza, a Hempstead High School junior is a happy kid these days.

While working at a McDonald’s in Hempstead, Garza found a wallet filled with $7000 cash, along with another $30,000 in jewelry . That’s when Pedro did something quite unheard of. He turned it in.

The family rewarded the young man with $500 bucks. As for McDonald’s, they gave him a Ronald McDonald doll. One they don’t give out to too many people that is.

Garza said that he returned the money and jewelry because the items were not his, and his mother taught him never to take anything that wasn't his.

Now, everyone knows just how special this kid really is. So, next time you’re traveling Highway 290 through Hempstead, stop on by and see Pedro Garza. Because, if there’s one thing the world needs more of, it’s people like him.
