HENSLEY NAMED TO TEXAS ASSOCIATION OF COMMUNITY COLLEGES COMMITTEE

Blinn College District President/CEO Dr. Mary Hensley has been selected to continue representing the Central Texas Region as a member of the Texas Association of Community Colleges (TACC) Executive Committee.

TACC represents all 50 Texas community college districts and the more than 750,000 students who attend those institutions. Hensley originally was appointed to the nine-member TACC Executive Committee in July 2016. Her new appointment is a three-year term beginning in July 2017.

“It is an honor to represent the community colleges from the Central Texas Region and across the state as a member of the TACC Executive Committee,” Hensley said. “I look forward to advocating on behalf of community colleges as we continue to provide Texas students with a quality, affordable education.”

Hensley was named the 15th president in Blinn College history in May 2015. Under her leadership, Blinn has announced its RELLIS Campus partnership with The Texas A&M University System, expanded enrollment in its Texas A&M Engineering Academy program, and introduced high-demand academic transfer and workforce training programs to meet the needs of its service area.

In addition to her service on numerous boards and committees in support of community colleges and their mission, Hensley received the 2006 Career and Technology Association of Texas Appreciation Award and was appointed to the Austin Literacy Coalition of Central Texas Executive Board. She has served as the primary academic contact and liaison to the Texas Education Agency, Region XIII Education Services Center, fellow school districts, and postsecondary institutions.

Hensley holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Texas at Austin, a Master of Arts from the University of Texas at El Paso and a Doctor of Education from Baylor University. She also holds elementary, professional counseling, supervisor, mid-management, and superintendent certificates.

She is a graduate of the Washington County Leadership Program, serves on the Baylor Scott & White Hospital board, is a member of the Literacy Texas coalition, and serves on the Workforce Solutions Brazos Valley Board of Directors and Executive Committee.
