HERITAGE MUSEUM LEASE ON CITY COUNCIL AGENDA TODAY

The lease between the City of Brenham and the Brenham Heritage Museum will be discussed during executive session of the City Council today (Thursday).

The Brenham Heritage Museum building, at 105 South Market Street, has been closed since August due to electrical code violations and other problems.  The City leases the building to the Museum, but the Museum and its Board of Directors are responsible for all of the maintenance and upkeep.  Repairs to make the museum useable again have been estimated at more than half a million dollars.

Also during this (Thursday) afternoon’s Executive Session, the Brenham City Council will once again look to terminate the contract with GCP Contractors for the construction of new bathroom facilities at Fireman’s Park.  They will consider a substitute agreement with GCP’s surety company to get the project resumed.  It has been on hold since December.

During the regular portion of today’s (Thursday’s) meeting, the Council will consider terminating the Police Protection Agreement with the Brenham Housing “Authority.  That request has been made by a letter from the Housing Authority.  Councilmembers look to hire Rostan Solutions to assist in the paperwork required for seeking reimbursement from FEMA for flood damage.  They will also hold public hearings for a couple of public hearings…one to allow a fitness facility in the new Neighborhood
Business District on the south side of downtown….and one for a new tax phase in requested by D Bar B Sausage and Meats at 1909 Longwood Drive.

The Brenham City Council meets at 1 o’clock this (Thursday) afternoon in council chambers of City Hall.
