HIGH SPEED CHASE ENDS IN BRENHAM

  

A Houston man is in custody after his arrest late Saturday night following a high-speed chase that ended in Brenham.

29-year old Jose Avelino Corona Jr. was arrested after Brenham Police and Washington County Sheriff’s deputies laid out spike strips near the overpass at Highway 290 and Blue Bell Road.

According to Brenham Police Sargent Kelvin Raven, the chase began Saturday evening in northwest Houston and proceeded up 290, through Waller County and into Washington County.

The chase involved authorities from multiple agencies, including DPS, Houston Police, Harris Co., Waller Co., Brenham Police and Washington Co.  DPS in Houston also deployed a helicopter that aided in the chase.

Corona eventually stopped after Police Cpl. Stephen Eilert and Washington County Sheriff’s Sargent Chris Peschel deployed the spike strips near the overpass.

Corona was magistrated by Washington County Justice of the Peace Douglas Zwiener on a charge of Evading Arrest in a motor vehicle then transferred to Houston.
