DIXIE ROAD AT HWY 36 CLOSED FOR TWO WEEKS

On Monday, January 9, 2017, weather permitting, the Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) contractor will temporarily close Dixie Road where it intersects with SH 36.

This closure will allow the contractor to begin the concrete pavement for the new southbound lanes of SH 36.  This closure is expected to last two weeks.  At this time Dixie Road will reopen for a short period and then close again to complete the new southbound lanes.  A signed detour will be in place to direct traffic to use Berlin Road, US 290 and SH 36.

TxDOT would like to remind everyone to obey all warning signs, watch for workers and equipment, buckle up and drive safely.

This work is part of a $14.3-million project to widen SH 36 to a four lane divided highway between US 290 West and BS 36 in Brenham.  This project is contracted to Angel Brothers Holding Corp. out of Baytown, Texas and is expected to be complete by spring 2018.  TxDOT and their contractor thank everyone for their patience.
