HODDE CENTER OFFERING JULY WORKFORCE CLASSES

  

Classes range from blueprint reading/sketching to pharmacy technician

 

Blinn College’s A.W. Hodde, Jr. Technical Education Center is hosting a variety of July workforce and career courses that cover blueprint reading, pharmacy technician and CPR/first aid.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, July 5-6, Blinn will offer a two-day, basic safety and health industrial safety course from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Cost of the class is $90.

The 160-hour pharmacy technician online course begins Tuesday, July 5, and ends Friday, Aug. 19. Students can get the training needed to work closely with pharmacists in providing medication and healthcare products to patients. Cost of the class is $1,040.

A blueprint reading and sketching course that teaches students to read and interpret blueprints drawn by an engineer in the metalworking industry will begin Monday, July 11, and end Tuesday, July 19. This 48-hour class will cost $380 and run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

A specialty hands-on welding class titled Transmission and Distribution will begin Monday, July 11. The 32-hour class will run 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and end July 15. Cost of the class is $1,800. Hydrostatic testing training program, another specialty welding course, begins Monday, July 18. The two-day, 16-hour class will run 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and cost $1,650.

Also on Monday, July 11, is the one-day forklift operator certification course that runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost of the class is $105.

The statistical process control for machinists course begins Wednesday, July 20, and runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. This 32-hour class costs $220.

A one-day, $50 medication aide refresher course takes place from 8 a.m. to noon on Friday, July 22, and included specific training and review in the preparation and administration of medications, documentation, licensing standards, the safeguarding of medications, common drug reactions and side effects and updated and new medications available on the market. Students who successfully complete the course receive an updated certified medication aide permit from the state.

Also on July 22, Blinn will offer an eight-hour CPR/first aid Red Cross course. The $110 class begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m. in the Hodde Center.

Students can register at the Hodde Center and may pay for classes by check, cash or credit.
