HODDE CENTER OFFERS COURSES IN FORKLIFT OPERATIONS, OILFIELD SAFETY, CPR

  

Blinn College’s A.W. Hodde, Jr., Technical Education Center will offer courses in forklift operation, oilfield safety, and CPR/first aid/AED use for job seekers during the month of November.

Blinn’s one-day CPR/first aid/AED course takes place from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10. This $115 course covers recognition and emergency resuscitation techniques for heart attack, stroke, and choking; prevention of injuries and cardiac arrest; recognition and treatment of choking in infants and children; and the use of barrier devices.

Blinn will offer its one-day forklift operator certification from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 14. This $115 course teaches students to evaluate their workplace and determine whether loads can safely be moved, and covers safety requirements related to the design, maintenance, and safe use of forklifts. It includes equipment inspection, lift limitations, and teaches students to understand how fulcrums and center of gravity impact safe operation in all phases of forklift use.

Blinn’s Safeland PEC oilfield safety training will be offered on Wednesday, Nov. 16. This eight-hour, $150 course takes place from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. The Safeland PEC oilfield safety training is the standard safety orientation for the oil and gas industry and prepares students to operate safely at both onshore and offshore facilities. Upon completion, each student is issued a photo ID with a unique barcode and their information is stored in an online database at www.peccard.com.

Blinn will offer its $75 Medication Aide Refresher course from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5. The course includes specific training and review in the preparation and administration of medications, documentation, licensing standards, the safeguarding of medications, common drug reactions and side effects and updated and new medications available on the market. Students who successfully complete the course will receive an updated certified medication aide permit from the state.
