HODDE CENTER OFFERS FREE RESUME CONSULTATION FOR JOB SEEKERS

Blinn College’s A.W. Hodde, Jr. Technical Education Center is offering free advice to job seekers who need help fine-tuning their résumés.

Located at 2910 S. Blue Bell Road in Brenham, the Hodde Center is offering free résumé consultation between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. The Hodde Center computer lab is also available to job seekers and will be specifically dedicated to résumé preparation and consultation each Wednesday between 8 a.m. and noon. Resume consultants will be on hand to offer advice and show job seekers how they can find employers’ information online.

Those seeking résumé consultation should bring their resume and any details they have regarding their employment history.

Even if job seekers are satisfied with their résumé, the Hodde Center encourages them to speak to an advisor.

“There are some job seekers who may not need additional training but just need to be pointed in the right direction,” said Megan Costanza, dean of Workforce Education. “In some instances, they’re qualified to work in another field and don’t even realize it.

“Because we do corporate training and speak to a lot of business and industry leaders, we’re aware of a lot of jobs and skills employers are looking for across industries. We may be able to direct you to other jobs that require your particular skills, or we can help you include those skills on your résumé so employers understand exactly how you can help their business.”

The 12,000-square foot A.W. Hodde, Jr. Technical Education Center was built in 2009 to provide local training for a quality, viable workforce in Washington and the surrounding communities. As part of Blinn’s Division of Workforce Education, its staff works in cooperation with local businesses to provide a well-trained workforce that strengthens the local economy.
