HOT NIGHTS – COOL TUNES LINEUP ANNOUNCED

Live music and dancing in the streets return to Downtown Brenham this summer with the 13th season of the free “Hot Nights, Cool Tunes” concert series.

Crystal Locke, Community Services Specialist for the City of Brenham, has announced this year’s “Hot Nights, Cool Tunes” band lineup.  The first concert, Saturday, July 8th, will feature the Texas Unlimited Band playing a popular mix of current hits, country, old school rock ‘n roll and 80’s music.  TUB is sponsored by Woodson Lumber Company, K’s Mutt Hutt Doggie Resort and Ranch, Independence Coffee Company and Brenham Clinic.  Locke says, “The Texas Unlimited Band” always puts on a great show, and gets the crowd on their feet, dancing in front of the stage”.

It’s a British invasion on Saturday night, July 15th as The Fab Five play the music of the Beatles and other groups from the 60’s and 70’s.  The Fab Five were voted Best Cover/Tribute Band by the Houston Press in 2015.  They are sponsored by Brenham National Bank, Seidel Schroeder and Company, La Roche Dentistry, and Dahmann and Associates, LLC Germania Insurance.

Locke says a newcomer to the concert series, the Brown Sugar Band, will take the stage on Saturday, July 22nd.  The Brown Sugar Band plays old school rock ‘n roll, Motown, R&B and today’s hits with a variety of vocalists and even a sax player.  Sponsors that night include Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative, Bank of Brenham, South Texas Tack, and Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union.

A perennial favorite, Suede, will wrap up the “Hot Nights, Cool Tunes” concert series on Saturday, July 29th.  According to Locke, Suede is one of Texas’ premier cover bands playing music from the 70’s through today.  They are sponsored by J&A Roofing, C. Michael Altman Family & Cosmetic Dentistry, Citizens State Bank and Budweiser – Mike Hopkins Distributing.

The July Saturday night concerts will begin at 7 o’clock on a stage on the courthouse square in Downtown Brenham.  Locke says concert goers are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs, and to visit downtown Brenham businesses for food and drinks.  The concerts, as always, are free.

    1. Brad; have you changed Home Sweet Farm to a full time Bar now? Beer & wine; no more watermelons?

    2. Is that the same festival where all of the horrendous graffiti painted on downtown buildings originated from? Makes our once beautiful downtown area look awful!

      1. I am sorry you are not a fan. The jaguar seems to be quite the backdrop for the photographs of our town’s youth!

        1. I agree. I like the art. Brenham is turning into an entertainment destination. I like to escape the big city and Austin is too far. Main Street thanks for encouraging diversification. Everyone is starting to really feel welcummed here.

  1. This is a great free event for the community.
I look forward to it every year. Glad to see a new band (Brown Sugar Band) this year! I request to have another concert event in the fall when it’s cooler.

  2. I don’t always make all the concerts but I’m glad our town does this in the summer months and for free. My grandson loves the cars that are usually there too. I do wish you would do something like this in the cooler months too whenever we actually have any cooler months.

    1. Even if it weren’t free. Doing it in the cooler months would also be great!
