Lewis Houser has announced that he will be a candidate for Precinct One county commissioner in next year’s election.

The incumbent in that position is Zeb Heckman.

Houser says he will run in the Democratic primary in March.  He also ran for the position in the 2008 election.

Houser is retired from British Petroleum Polyethylene after 38 years in the petrochemical industry.

Houser said his life and career have been “one of accomplishment, participation and consistency.”

Houser is a member of the Washington County Veterans Association and serves as Commander of Brenham’s American Legion Post 814. He’s also a former member of the Chappell Hill Historical Society, where he served as president for two terms.

He also served two terms on the board of directors of the Boys and Girls Club here in Brenham.

Houser says he would, “bring vast experiences in management and finance to (Washington) county for continued progress with growth, planning, communication and budgeting that will lessen the impact of excessive taxes.”

  1. If the current commissioners don’t start spending a little money to pave the roads and pay our deputies better he just might get elected.
