HOUSING CONSTRUCTION CONTINUES TO BOOST BUILDING IN BRENHAM

The city of Brenham issued $1.2 million in the 42 building permits issued  for the month of June.   The city has issued $16.3 million in building permits so far this year.  While it is a good steady pace it is still behind the $26.2 million building permits issued by this time last year. Most of those permits were fueled by the construction of the new Alton Elementary School and the renovations at the Brenham Middle School.

The construction of homes in the Ralston subdivision on the southern end of the city was a major factor in the continued building in Brenham.  The city issued a total of $675,000 for six permits in the subdivision in the month of June. This housing subdivision has been under development for almost two years but construction began at the end of last year.

  1. Where is the water going to come from. Las year comments were made to wash vehicles with bucket of water to conserve water, yet more homes are being built which will use more water
