HOUSTON MAN SURVIVES GLIDER CRASH NEAR BRENHAM
A Houston man avoided injury after crashing a glider Wednesday night near Brenham.
64-year old Travis LaGrone of Houston suffered just minor cuts and scrapes after crashing his glider about 20 yards from a home about 15 miles north of Brenham, Wednesday evening.
DPS troopers were called out to FM-39 near Kettler Rd. at around 5:00 p.m. to find LaGrone’s crashed Glasflugel H-301 glider.
LaGrone told troopers he began to lose altitude and was aiming to land in a nearby pasture. He say that’s when he spotted some power lines and while he avoided the lines his left win clipped a tree.
No one on the ground was injured.
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are conducting investigations.
