HUMAN TRAFFICKING IN FAYETTE COUNTY

A human trafficking effort was broken up Thursday by Fayette County law enforcement officers,  troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety and the drug dog.

K-9 Deputy Randy Thurmann attempted to stop an older model Dodge Durango vehicle on Interstate 10 near Flatonia.   The driver refused to stop and a pursuit began..  The driver fled for a short time until he ran out of roadway on the top of a large hill and had to stop.  The driver then fled the vehicle but the sheriff’s office drug dog, Lobos tracked him down and caught him.

There were 11 others in the van who all tried to flee. Deputies from the Fayette County sheriff’s office, DPS Troopers and the Flatonia police department captured all 12 of the aliens.  The van driver, 28-year old Oscar Orlando Ramos from Irving was arrested and charged with trafficking of persons and evading arrest in a motor vehicle.  The other 11 were found and picked up Immigration Control Enforcement from Houston.
