HUNTSVILLE ROLLS PAST CUBETTES, 12-1

A disastrous seven-run third inning catapulted Huntsville to 12-1, five-inning win over the Brenham Cubettes, Tuesday night at Kate Barr Ross Park in Huntsville.

Brenham (9-9/2-5) got off to what appeared to be a good start—loading the bases in the top of the first inning with one out.  But the Cubettes were unable to push across a run, and it was all downhill after that.

In the bottom of the first, the Lady Hornets (3-4 in district) put three runs on the board.  The key hit was a monstrous two-run homer by Huntsville catcher Kelsey Cryer.  Cryer crushed the first pitch she saw well over the centerfield fence, against a 15-20 mile an hour wind.

Brenham again loaded the bases in the top of the second, but was again, unable to score.

Huntsville busted the game wide open in the bottom of the third with seven runs.  The key hits were an rbi-single by pitcher Leigh Luker; and a pair of two-run singles by Sabrina Johnson and Morgan Cheatham.

The Cubettes got on the board in the fourth, Regan Kwiatkwoski led off with a single and then scored on an error.

Johnson would add her second two-run single for the Lady Hornets in the fourth, providing the run-rule winning margin.

Brenham hitters managed just four hits, while the defense committed four errors and gave up seven unearned runs.

Macie Becker was 2-for-3 at the plate, while Autumn Pauler had the Cubettes’ fourth hit.

The Cubettes will try to back on the winning track Friday, when they host Caney Creek at 7:00 at Alumni Field in Brenham.
